Lilac Theatre Dance is a registered Dance School with the IDTA, based in Lincoln which offers expert and professional dance tuition in Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Freestyle, Lyrical, Street Dance and Contemporary for boys and girls aged 4 and above.

 

Lilac is renowned for its outstanding reputation in the teaching of dance technique and performance and aims to produce dancers of excellent ability with a passion to perform.

Lilac Theatre Dance has now been running successfully for six years and during this time we have achieved so much.

We are very proud of all our students, teachers and parents; for their passion and support and for contributing to what makes Lilac a very special dance school! Our small class sizes and expert tuition allows us to push each dancer to reach their highest potential.  All pupils take regular examinations with the IDTA (we have a 100% pass rate) and participate in an annual show at The Terry O'Toole Theatre.

Since Lilac Theatre Dance opened in 2007, some of our success stories include; several students being selected as Junior Associates at the prestigious 'Urdang Academy' in London, and SLP Dance College, Leeds, students working with 'The Royal Ballet' at 'The Yorkshire Ballet Seminar', 'The Birmingham Royal Ballet', 'CAT; a contemporary dance programme for gifted and talented students' and have been selected to dance twice in a row to dance alongside the 'Stars of Strictly Come Dancing' at the Theatre Royal, Lincoln in their UK National Tour. We also made our West End debut at 'Her Majesty's Theatre', London in September 2012 as one of the 10 selected dance schools in the country to perform.

At Lilac we only employ the very best teachers which sets us aside from other dance schools. In addition to being fully qualified, CRB checked and first aid trained, our team have 'lived the dream' as professional performers themselves and have invaluable contacts within the industry. Credits include: West end leading roles in shows including 'Little Shop of Horrors', 'Hello Dolly' and 'Godspell', National Tours such as 'Fosse', 'Mad about the Musicals', 'Annie' and 'The Rocky Horror Show' and TV/Commercial work. Our teachers have also worked alongside many high profile people and acts including Linda Robson (Birds of a Feather), Bonnie Lanford (Doctor Who, Dancing on Ice), Sophie Ellis Bextor, Beverly Knight, Lady Dynamite, Whitney Houston and Graham Norton to name a few. In addition to this our teachers are all protégé's on the country's leading dance schools and have taught at some of the country's most prestigious dance colleges including 'The Urdang Academy', 'The Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama (MADD)' and 'Italia Conti Theatre Arts'.

As well as being taught by our expert team of professionals at Lilac, the students also regularly receive the opportunity to be taught by current industry professionals who visit the school on a regular basis. Examples of this including Tomas Simon (Choreographer to stars such as Cheryl Cole, The Saturdays and Whitney Houston), Kelly Price (Chicago, Guys 'n' Dolls, Mamma Mia), Charlotte Gorton (Fame, Mamma Mia, Guy's 'n' Dolls'), Rebecca Grant (Holby City, Bombay Dreams, Wah Wah Girls), Makiko Fukuda (The Lion King) and Carina Gillespie (Grease and Buddy Holly the Musical).
